BRIEF

Collaborativ Work of an exhibition concept for the vivid communication of complex climate data in the areas of CO₂ emissions, housing, nutrition and transport.

Typografic installation

As part of a typographic installation, bold questions are used to stimulate visitors to engage more deeply with the topic.

Transformative Installation

A black film applied to the window creates a dynamic typographic installation. Activated by sunlight, the cut-out questions appear within the space as luminous lettering, their visibility and impact changing with the position of the sun.

Lifestyle related CO₂ consumption

The human silhouettes serve as a visual representation of a citizen’s average CO₂ footprint, related to their place of residence.

How much is one tonne

To visualize the concept, a room was filled with black inflated rubbish bags, representing the amount of CO₂ we produce in a single week. Without the need to communicate the exact quantity, the image of the bags spilling out of the room leaves a vivid and lasting impression.

How diet shapes land use

A graphic comparison visualises the differences in land use associated with different dietary habits. The required area is represented by the size of the picture frame. The contrast between the small human figure and the oversized frame is designed to draw the viewer in and prompt a deeper engagement with the topic.

How do you get around?

Mobility is an area in which the potential for design lies not only in the technical development of vehicles and new drive systems, but also in shaping new behaviours, modes of interaction and service offerings. The installation shows that 52% of transport under 5 km in Frankfurt are made by car.

Interactive Installation

The CO₂ footprint of local and imported produce is compared using a lettuce as an example. A 5 kg weight placed inside the crate of the “imported” lettuce makes the difference directly perceptible when the crates are lifted.

How heavy is your lettuce

In a playful way, visitors are introduced to the topic and encouraged to engage in dialogue with other visitors.

come closer

Following the positive response, we were able to develop and present additional exhibits within the framework of the event series “come closer – responsible design” at the Museum of Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt am Main.
